Brillante Academy Public Charter School opened its doors in August 2023. In our fourth year, we will have Pre-K3 through 4th grade and will serve over 530 students from the Rio Grande Valley in the Mission area and surrounding communities in its first year. We will continue to grow one grade-level a year until 8th grade. Over the next decade, we plan to expand our network across the state of Texas to serve over 7,000 students.

Position Overview

The Part-Time Bus Monitor is a vital member of the Operations Team, which is responsible for designing and implementing efficient day-to-day systems and routines that contribute to a joyful school culture and the highest-levels of learning, instruction and organizational stewardship. The primary responsibility of the Part-Time Bus Monitor is to ensure the safety of all students riding the bus with a particular focus on our youngest riders (Pre-K3 students). This is a part-time position with opportunity for growth with the school and additional hours as needed. Tasks of the Part-Time Bus Monitor include but are not limited to:

• Ensuring students are acting safely and appropriately (sitting down, respectful, etc.)
• Taking daily bus attendance
• Supporting the bus driver as directed
• Building meaningful relationships with students, staff and parents
• Communicating behavior challenges to manager/school leader
• Supporting arrival and dismissal processes
• Performing other related tasks as assigned

Qualifications

• Belief in the Brillante Academy mission, model and values
• Bilingual in English and Spanish
• Experience working in a school and/or with elementary aged students strongly preferred
• Team player with strong interpersonal, stakeholder management, and relationship building skills
• Able to work bus schedule (approximately Monday - Friday 6:00-8:00 AM AND 3:15-5:30 PM)
