Summary: A Nurse Practitioner functions as part of the interdisciplinary healthcare team in accordance with privileges approved by the credentialing committee to provide high quality, cost‑effective care to patients within the APP’s scope of practice in collaboration with a supervising physician. The APP reflects the mission, vision, and values of the organization, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and other regulatory and accreditation standards. Responsibilities Clinical – Obtains relevant health and medical history, performs thorough physical assessment, reviews and interprets diagnostic tests and results. Develops differential diagnoses and implements treatment plans, including prescribing or ordering pharmacological agents and scheduling follow‑up. Conducts preventive health screening, maintains clear records, stays current with disease knowledge and specialty literature, and engages in evidence‑based hospital initiatives to improve patient care. Performs medical procedures consistent with guidelines and privileges. Prioritizes work, assists staff to ensure efficient patient flow, maintains high productivity standards, and leads projects to improve productivity. Education – Appropriately educates clients and families regarding medical conditions, treatments, and follow‑up. Collaborates with clinicians, staff, and students to promote continuity and patient/family‑centered care. Develops educational materials and provides instruction to physicians, housestaff, nurses, ancillaries, and students. Leadership – Provides instruction to physicians, housestaff, nursing, ancillaries, and students, including precepting, shadowing, lectures, training classes, CE, rounds, and meetings. Participates in community/network outreach programs and leads system improvement initiatives. Professional – Interacts with patients and families in a respectful, courteous, and timely manner, using appropriate communication. Works collaboratively with coworkers and team members, responds quickly to customer needs, accepts responsibility for work outcomes, and shares workload responsibility. Quality/Research – Engages in continuous quality improvement, identifies and implements improvement processes, consults with management, leads interdisciplinary teams, revises protocols, influences policy‑making, and develops new clinical programs or services. Qualifications Education: Completion of an accredited graduate‑level Advanced Practice Provider (APRN or PA) program. Licensure/Certification: Licensed as an Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner, Certified Nurse Midwife, or Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist) in the state of North Carolina. Board certification if required by the Department. DEA registration. Professional Experience: No prior experience required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Demonstrated clinical competency; effective leadership and strong interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively; strong written and verbal communication and analytical skills; ensures successful patient care in the clinical setting; competent documentation in the medical record for accurate billing.
