Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) - Surgery Plastics Clinic

Summary A Physician Assistant functions as part of the interdisciplinary healthcare team in accordance with privileges approved by the credentialing committee to provide high quality, cost effective care to patients within the APPs scope of practice in collaboration with a supervising physician. The APP reflects the mission, vision, and values of the organization, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and other regulatory and accreditation standards. Responsibilities Clinical: Retrieves relevant health and medical history, performs thorough physical assessment, reviews and interprets diagnostic tests/results. Develops appropriate differential diagnoses, treatment plans including prescribing/ordering evidence-based pharmacological agents consistent with departmental guidelines, and schedules follow-up management. Actively incorporates evidence-based hospital initiatives. Conducts preventive health screening based on age, history and patient needs. Maintains comprehensive records of patient care. Maintains disease knowledge and specialty literature. Prioritizes work to ensure efficient client flow and meets productivity standards. Leads or participates in projects to improve productivity. Performs medical procedures consistent with guidelines, privileging, and clinical roles. Education: Educates clients and/or families regarding medical condition, treatment, and follow-up. Collaborates with clinicians, staff, and students to promote continuity of patient/family centered care. Develops educational materials based on learning needs. Provides education/instruction to physicians, housestaff, nursing, ancillary staff and students. Recognizes and participates in self-learning needs. Attends education programs as needed. Leadership: Provides instruction to physicians, housestaff, nursing, ancillary staff and students through precepting, shadowing, lectures, training, CE, rounds, morning reports, or staff meetings. Participates or leads community/network outreach programs. Demonstrates understanding of healthcare contexts and applies knowledge to improve and optimize health delivery. Leads or participates in systems improvement. Professional: Interacts with patients, families, coworkers, and team members respectfully, courteously and timely. Responds quickly to meet patient needs and resolve issues. Accepts responsibility for work outcomes. Shares workload responsibility with team members. Quality/Research: Engages in continuous quality improvement, identifies and implements process improvements. Consults with management on assessment, problem‑solving, decision‑making, and evaluating clinical/system issues. Leads interdisciplinary teams to integrate patient care services. Revises protocols/guidelines to reflect evidence‑based changes. Influences policy‑making bodies. Develops new clinical programs/services to improve patient care. Other Information Education Requirements: Completion of an accredited graduate‑level Advanced Practice Provider (APRN or PA) program. Licensure/Certification Requirements: Licensed as an Advanced Practice Provider in the state of North Carolina. Board certification if required by the Department. DEA. Professional Experience Requirements: No prior experience required. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Requirements: Demonstrated clinical competency; effective leadership skills; strong interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively; strong analytical communication skills; accurate documentation for billing.
