Advanced Practice Provider (PA/NP) - UNC Health Campus Care at Carolina - Primary Care (Per Diem)

UNC Health Campus Care at Carolina is a multi‑specialty ambulatory college health clinic providing quality, affordable health care for eligible students and spouses. We serve more than 80,000 patient encounters annually, including Primary Care and Women’s Health and specialty clinics in sports medicine, orthopedics, gynecology, physical therapy, counseling and psychological services, travel clinic, and allergy clinic. Weekend acute care is provided from 8–5 PM. On‑site ancillary services include pharmacy, OTC pharmacy, student stores pharmacy, medical laboratory, and radiology. All personnel are trained in Performance Improvement concepts and principles and serve as team members and leaders in shaping and defining the organization toward quality and safe care. UNC Health Campus Care at Carolina collaborates with Student Wellness, Campus Recreation, and other Student Affairs partners to provide education and outreach to keep the campus population healthy. Education and research also play an important role at UNC Health Campus Care at Carolina, offering clinical rotations and practicums for students in various health professions and serving as a research site for many faculty and graduate student grants and contracts. Summary A Physician Assistant functions as part of the interdisciplinary healthcare team in accordance with privileges approved by the credentialing committee to provide high quality, cost‑effective care to patients within the APPs scope of practice in collaboration with a supervising physician. The APP reflects the mission, vision, and values of the organization, complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and other regulatory and accreditation standards. Responsibilities Clinical – Obtain relevant health and medical history, perform thorough physical assessment, review and interpret diagnostic tests, develop differential diagnoses, implement treatment plans, prescribe/ order evidence‑based pharmacological agents, conduct preventive health screening, maintain comprehensive records, keep up‑to‑date knowledge of disease processes and specialty literature, prioritize work, maintain high productivity, lead or participate in productivity improvement projects, perform medical procedures consistent with departmental guidelines. Education – Educate clients and families about medical conditions, treatments, and follow‑up, collaborate with clinicians, staff, and students, develop educational materials, provide instruction to physicians, housestaff, nursing, ancillaries, and/or students, attend education programs. Leadership – Provide instruction to physicians, housestaff, nursing, ancillaries, and/or students, participate in community and network outreach programs, develop and lead outreach initiatives, demonstrate understanding of the healthcare context and apply knowledge to improve delivery of care, participate in systems improvement. Professional – Interact with patients and families respectfully and courtoiously, collaborate with coworkers, respond quickly to customer needs, accept responsibility for work outcomes, share workload with team. Quality/Research – Engage in continuous quality improvement, identify and implement improvement processes, consult with management on clinical/system issues, lead interdisciplinary teams, initiate and revise protocols, influence policy‑making, develop new clinical programs. Other Information Other information: Education Requirements Completion of an accredited graduate‑level advanced practice provider (APRN or PA) program. Licensure/Certification Requirements Licensed as an advanced practice provider (Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner, Certified Nurse Midwife, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist) in the state of North Carolina. Board certification if required by the Department; DEA registration. Professional Experience Requirements No prior experience required.
