Advanced Practice Provider (PA/NP) - Neurointensive ICU-FP

Summary A Nurse Practitioner functions as part of the interdisciplinary healthcare team in accordance with privileges approved by the credentialing committee to provide high quality, cost effective care to patients within the APPs scope of practice in collaboration with a supervising physician. The APP reflects the mission, vision, and values of the organization, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and other regulatory and accreditation standards. Responsibilities Clinical: Obtain relevant health and medical history, perform thorough physical assessment, review and interpret diagnostic tests, develop diagnoses and treatment plans, prescribe/ordering medication, conduct preventive screening, maintain comprehensive records, stay current with disease processes and specialty literature, maintain high productivity, lead improvement projects, perform procedures per guidelines. Education: Provide professional education to clients, families, clinicians, staff, and students; develop educational materials; deliver instruction to physicians, housestaff, nursing, ancillaries; recognize self-learning needs; attend education programs. Leadership: Provide instruction to physicians, housestaff, nursing, ancillaries, including precepting, lectures, training, CE; participate in community/network outreach; develop and lead outreach programs; demonstrate understanding of healthcare context; lead systems improvements. Professional: Interact respectfully with patients, families, coworkers; respond promptly to needs; accept responsibility for outcomes; share workload. Quality/Research: Engage in continuous quality improvement; consult with management; lead interdisciplinary teams; initiate and revise protocols; influence policy; develop new clinical programs to improve patient care. Other Information Education Requirements: Completion of an accredited graduate-level Advanced Practice Provider (APRN or PA) program. Licensure/Certification Requirements: Licensed as an Advanced Practice Provider (i.e., Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner, Certified Nurse Midwife, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist) in the state of North Carolina. Board certification if required by the Department. DEA. Professional Experience Requirements: No prior experience required. Knowledge/Skills and Abilities Requirements: Demonstrated clinical competency. Effective leadership skills; strong interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Demonstrated written and verbal communication and strong analytical skills. Effective interaction to ensure the successful care of patients in the clinical setting. Documentation in the medical record to substantiate accurate billing.
