Summary A Nurse Practitioner functions as part of the interdisciplinary healthcare team in accordance with privileges approved by the credentialing committee to provide high quality, cost effective care to patients within the APPs scope of practice in collaboration with a supervising physician. The APP reflects the mission, vision, and values of the organization, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and other regulatory and accreditation standards. Responsibilities Clinical: obtains relevant health and medical history, performs thorough physical assessment, reviews and interprets diagnostic tests/results, develops appropriate differential diagnoses and treatment plans, prescribes or orders pharmacological agents consistent with guidelines, schedules follow‑up, incorporates evidence‑based initiatives, conducts preventive health screening, maintains comprehensive records, stays current with general disease processes and specialty literature, synthesizes data, revises plan of care, prioritizes work, maintains productivity, leads projects to improve productivity, performs procedures consistent with guidelines. Education: educates clients/families about medical condition, treatment, and follow‑up; collaborates with clinicians, staff, and students; develops educational materials; provides education/instruction to physicians, housestaff, nursing, ancillaries, students; attends education programs based on learning needs. Leadership: provides instruction to physicians, housestaff, nursing, ancillaries, and students including precepting, shadowing, lectures, training, CE, rounds, and staff meetings; participates in community/network outreach; develops and leads outreach programs; applies knowledge to improve healthcare delivery and participates in system improvements. Professional: interacts with patients and families respectfully and timely; collaborates with coworkers, other team members, and staff; responds quickly to meet customer needs; accepts responsibility for outcomes and shares workload with team members. Quality/Research: engages in continuous quality improvement, identifies and implements processes, consults with management, leads interdisciplinary teams, initiates and revises protocols or guidelines to reflect evidence‑based changes, influences policy‑making bodies, and develops new clinical programs or services within the department/unit/clinic to improve patient care. Education Requirements Completion of an accredited graduate‑level Advanced Practice Provider (APRN or PA) program. Licensure/Certification Requirements Licensed as an Advanced Practice Provider (i.e., Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner, Certified Nurse Midwife, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist) in the state of North Carolina. Board certification if required by the Department. DEA. Professional Experience Requirements No prior experience required. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Requirements Demonstrated clinical competency. Effective leadership skills; strong interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Demonstrated written and verbal communication and strong analytical skills. Effective interaction to ensure successful care of patients in the clinical setting. Documentation in the medical record to substantiate accurate billing.
