Advanced Practice Provider PA/NP (Per Diem) - UNC Ortho Sports Med Overhead

Overview UNC Orthopedics is looking for an experienced Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner for a per diem position. A Physician Assistant functions as part of the interdisciplinary healthcare team in accordance with privileges approved by the credentialing committee to provide high quality, cost effective care to patients within the APPs scope of practice in collaboration with a supervising physician. Responsibilities Clinical: Obtains relevant health and medical history, performs a thorough physical assessment, reviews and interprets diagnostic tests, develops differential diagnoses, implements treatment plans including prescribing or ordering evidence‑based pharmacologic agents consistent with departmental guidelines, conducts preventive health screening, maintains concise records of patient care, keeps up‑to‑date knowledge of disease processes, synthesizes clinical data, revises plans of care, prioritizes work to assist staff and maintain productivity, performs procedures consistent with departmental guidelines and clinical roles. Education: Appropriately and professionally educates clients and/or families regarding medical condition, treatment, and follow‑up; collaborates with clinicians, staff, and students to promote continuity of care; develops educational materials; provides instruction to physicians, housestaff, nursing, ancillaries, and/or students; attends education programs based on identifying needs. Leadership: Provides instruction to physicians, housestaff, nursing, ancillaries, and/or students through precepting, shadowing, lectures, training classes, CE, rounds, morning report, or staff meetings; participates in community/network outreach programs; develops and leads outreach programs; demonstrates understanding of the system in which healthcare is provided and applies that knowledge to improve health care delivery; participates in system improvements. Professional: Interacts with patients and families in a respectful, courteous, and timely fashion; collaborates with coworkers and team members respectfully and timely; responds quickly to meet customer needs; accepts responsibility for outcomes of one’s work; shares responsibility for workload with team members. Quality/Research: Engages in daily continuous quality improvement; consults with management to assess and solve clinical system issues; leads interdisciplinary teams to integrated patient care; initiates and revises protocols or guidelines to reflect evidence‑based changes; influences policy bodies; develops new clinical programs or services within the department/unit/clinic to improve care. Qualifications Education: Completion of an accredited graduate‑level Advanced Practice Provider program. Licensure/Certification: Licensed as an Advanced Practice Provider in North Carolina; board certification if required; DEA. Experience: No prior experience required. Knowledge/Skills: Demonstrated clinical competency, effective leadership, strong interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and collaboratively, strong written and verbal communication, analytical skills, effective interaction to ensure patient care, documentation for accurate billing.
