Retail Operations Manager for AI Training

Retail Operations Managers apply hands-on store, inventory, and warehouse experience to create and evaluate AI training data, reviewing AI-generated responses for accuracy and relevance to real-world retail workflows. This is a part-time, project-based contractor engagement that can be done alongside other research, teaching, postdoctoral, or industry work.

• Use direct experience in store performance management, inventory control, and warehouse receiving to assess AI-generated content for correctness and operational relevance.
• Create expert-level training examples and annotations that reflect how retail operations are actually executed.
• Provide clear, detailed feedback that helps improve AI understanding of retail workflows and tools.
• Work independently and asynchronously with research teams to complete evaluation tasks and deliverables.

• Minimum 2 years of professional experience in retail operations management, in roles such as Retail Operations Manager or Director, or equivalent retail industry positions.
• Practical, hands-on experience with retail operations workflows, including store performance monitoring and reporting, cash and inventory reconciliation, and warehouse receiving operations.
• Strong written communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently on asynchronous tasks.
• No prior AI experience required.

• Engagement type, remote: fully remote, part-time, hourly contract work.
• Schedule: flexible, asynchronous, no minimum hourly requirement; contributors typically work about 5 to 20 hours per week when participating in an active project.
• This is an ongoing, project-based arrangement that can be performed alongside other employment or academic commitments.

• Up to $80/hr (depending on the project)

• F-1 students who are eligible for CPT or OPT may be eligible to participate. Consult your Designated School Official to confirm eligibility.
• If your school requires enrollment in a CPT course to authorize work, this engagement may not meet that requirement.
• STEM OPT is not supported for this work.

• Placement on projects depends on current needs. Candidates may be considered for future projects as new opportunities open.
