Position Overview

The Nursing Assistant (NA) plays a vital role in providing care to patients during their scheduled shifts. Under the guidance of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), the NA delivers patient-focused nursing care and assists with daily living activities. Responsibilities include:

• Supporting basic healthcare needs such as bathing, grooming, toileting, eating, meal preparation, and addressing emotional and spiritual needs.
• Administering assigned tasks and treatments.
• Recording vital signs and other essential health information.
• Collecting non-invasive biological specimens as required.
• Performing clerical duties related to patient scheduling and documentation.
• Preparing treatment areas and cleaning medical equipment, while ensuring proper disposal of biomedical waste according to established policies.
• Maintaining cleanliness in patient living spaces and treatment rooms.
• Providing one-on-one care to patients when necessary for safe care delivery.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED) is preferred but not mandatory.
• Certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) is preferred. Candidates must obtain and maintain required competencies and certifications specific to the department.
• If employed in North Dakota (ND) or Minnesota (MN) and not a certified CNA, candidates must register as a Nursing Assistant with the respective state health department within four months of hire.
• If working in Wisconsin, candidates must be listed on the Wisconsin Nurse Aid Registry with current work eligibility.
