Lead APP - Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNA)

Rotating - 10 Hour (United States of America) Stanford Health Care – Lead Advanced Practice Professional (APP) – Job Overview Provides supervision and management of advanced practice providers (APPs) within a distinct clinical service line. Provides clinical direction and education, works closely with operational and physician leaders, and has oversight of hiring, termination, and professional growth and development of APPs. Also functions under the general Nurse Practitioner (NP), Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS), Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA), or the Physician Assistant (PA) job framework approved by the Interdisciplinary Practice Committee (IDPC). Responsibilities Clinical Oversight and Leadership: co‑direct clinical, operational, and administrative initiatives of the service line; conduct regular meetings with APPs; ensure clinical competency and adherence to policy through practice analysis and case review; investigate and respond to patient/family complaints; orient new staff APPs; provide education; serve as representative on hospital‑wide, professional, and evaluation committees; ensure completion of operational mandates and initiatives (e.g., C-I-CARE rounds). Administration: review and participate in financial planning; hire, evaluate, coach, mentor, discipline APPs; investigate and resolve operational issues; coordinate quality improvement and process improvement programs; provide 24‑hour on‑call coverage; coordinate APP scheduling; perform other duties as assigned. Internal & External Legal/Regulatory Issues: ensure compliance with medical staff services initiatives and policies; advocate for practice models that allow clinicians to practice to the fullest extent of their scope; participate in regional and national discussions affecting APP practice; collaborate on funding, billing and reimbursement models; engage in legislative and health policy issues affecting advanced practice. Qualifications Education: Advanced Practice Nurse – Master’s or Doctorate in Nursing or related field (accredited university); Physician Assistant – Bachelor’s degree in Science, Physician Assistant Studies, or related field (accredited university). Experience: Minimum 1 year as a licensed advanced practice provider (Physician Assistant, Nurse Practitioner, Clinical Nurse Specialist, or Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist); 3 years preferred; management experience preferred. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Management principles and practices (hiring, evaluation, counseling, termination; budgeting; employee recognition). Practice evaluation, process improvement, and national professional regulatory initiatives. Standards of care and practice of APP roles. Clinical competence and deep specialty knowledge. Knowledge of trauma services operation to support quality, cost‑effective care. Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to establish and maintain relationships with diverse groups at all levels. Strong planning, organization, prioritization, independent work, and deadline‑meeting skills. Promote evidence‑based practice, participate in research or clinical projects, influence staff development. Ability to use educational strategies to enhance patient and family care quality. Ability to work full‑time. Licenses and Certifications Physician Assistant – State licensure or RN; California license to practice as PA. Registered Nurse – Valid California RN license plus one advanced practice nursing license (NP, CNS, or CRNA) with current national certification. Base Pay Scale Generally starting at $100.03 – $132.51 per hour.
