- Lead, mentor, and develop associate veterinarians across assigned hospitals to drive medical excellence and consistent standards of care
- Provide direct veterinary services part of the week while serving as a hands-on, working manager
- Partner with practice leadership to achieve medical quality goals, client experience targets, and operational KPIs
- Oversee medical record reviews, clinical quality audits, and patient safety initiatives
- Serve as responsible veterinarian for permits as required and manage controlled substance compliance
- Coach newly hired doctors through structured onboarding and skills development in general practice medicine, dentistry, and routine surgery
- Support recruiting, interviewing, and hospital visits for candidates and student externs
- Address and resolve client concerns related to medical care
- Guide medical equipment requests and upkeep, and ensure regulatory compliance including radiation safety
- Build a leadership bench and succession plan within assigned hospitals Requirements
- DVM or VMD degree from an accredited institution
- Active California veterinary license (or eligibility to obtain prior to start)
- Eligibility to work in the United States
- DEA license (or eligibility to obtain)
- 3-plus years of clinical experience in small-animal practice, including proficiency in routine surgery and dentistry; prior leadership or mentorship experience strongly preferred
- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable with medical record systems and quality metrics
