Commercial Litigation Associate Attorney
Direct Counsel is seeking an Associate Attorney to join a global law firm’s Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice in Palo Alto, California.
Position OverviewThe attorney will represent clients in a broad range of commercial litigation matters before U.S. state and federal courts, including matters involving parties based in the United States and China. The role will involve substantial responsibility across all phases of litigation, as well as regular communication in both English and Mandarin.
ResponsibilitiesDraft motions, legal memoranda, pleadings, and other litigation documents.
Manage discovery and document production in commercial litigation matters.
Prepare, take, and defend witness depositions.
Conduct legal research involving U.S. statutes, case law, and procedural issues.
Make oral arguments in court and arbitration proceedings.
Represent clients in class action lawsuits involving federal and state wiretapping, consumer protection, and privacy laws.
Communicate with clients and other parties in English and Mandarin regarding case strategy, case status, and requests for information.
Utilize e-discovery tools, including Relativity.
Juris Doctor degree or equivalent.
4 years of experience representing clients in commercial litigation matters.
At least 1 year of experience making oral arguments in court proceedings.
At least 1 year of experience making oral arguments in arbitration proceedings.
At least 1 year of experience using e-discovery tools, including Relativity.
At least 6 months of experience representing clients in class action lawsuits involving federal and state wiretapping, consumer protection, and privacy laws.
Fluency in Mandarin.
Admission to practice law in good standing in a U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia.
Admission to practice law in China.
