Senior Staff Accountant

Our client is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to oversee general ledger accounting activities and support the accuracy of financial reporting across assigned operations. This hybrid position offers a blend of office collaboration and remote flexibility following onboarding and training. The individual in this role will contribute to monthly close activities, maintain account integrity, perform reconciliations, analyze financial fluctuations, and assist with reporting requirements. Success in this position requires strong accounting fundamentals, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with internal stakeholders. What You’ll Do: Maintain the general ledger and support accurate financial statement preparation. Participate in month-end closing processes, journal entries, and account analysis. Complete balance sheet reconciliations and resolve outstanding variances. Evaluate financial results and provide explanations for significant fluctuations. Review accounting records for compliance with established policies and controls. Prepare reporting schedules and respond to financial information requests. Assist with process improvement initiatives and system-related testing activities. Collaborate with stakeholders regarding accounting results and reporting matters. What We’re Looking For: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business discipline. Approximately 2 to 4 years of accounting, finance, or public accounting experience. Experience performing reconciliations and working within a general ledger environment. Knowledge of internal controls and financial reporting practices. Rooted in Birmingham.
