Job Title: Surgery Patient Account Scheduler
Work Arrangement: 100% Onsite
Schedule: Monday to Friday 8AM - 5PM
Interview: Video or In-person
Pay Rate: $28/hour Essential Qualifications

• Clean, professional appearance.
• Strong understanding of insurance coverage and authorization processes.
• Ambulatory outpatient clinic experience (Spine experience preferred).
• Expertise in patient scheduling.
• High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
• 3–5 years of customer service experience in a medical office/ambulatory care setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bilingual (Spanish highly preferred).
• Experience with surgery scheduling.
• Familiarity with Cerner.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.

Position SummaryThe Support Coordinator II is a pivotal team member in the Ambulatory outpatient clinic, supporting seamless patient flow and operational efficiency. This role is responsible for coordinating patient appointments, preparing for clinic visits, providing excellent customer service, facilitating communications, and managing insurance details to enhance both patient satisfaction and clinic effectiveness. Key ResponsibilitiesClerical & Scheduling

• Accurately enter patient and insurance information into computer systems.
• Process referrals quickly, including obtaining records, entering demographics, verifying insurance, and securing authorization.
• Schedule clinic appointments (evaluations, surgeries, labs, diagnostics, consults) per physician requests, following department protocols.
• Review master schedules, anticipate needs, and adapt to changes to support smooth clinic operations.
• Coordinate diagnostic testing and send medical necessity letters as required.
• Support filing and billing documentation collection.
• Provide phone coverage, distribute messages, and respond to voicemails within 24 hours.

Patient Experience & Customer Service

• Greet patients and families professionally, displaying courtesy, compassion, and honesty.
• Act as primary contact for patients/caregivers ; offer guidance, schedule follow-ups, and assist with paperwork.
• Conduct financial risk assessments and explain insurance benefits; refer complex situations to financial counselors.
• Prepare liability estimates for patients, clinicians, and insurers (copayments, deductibles, coinsurance, deposits).
• Facilitate timely communication between patients/caregivers and the care team, ensuring information is properly shared and issues resolved.
• Protect patient confidentiality at all times.
• Assist Support Coordinator I with resolving complex customer service matters.

Teamwork & Collaboration

• Demonstrate flexibility by covering shifts for colleagues.
• Maintain open, professional communication with management and team members.

• No remote flexibility.
• Must present a clean and professional image at all times.
• Highly qualified or bilingual candidates may qualify for higher pay.
