Staff Accountant 1

Role & responsibilities Uploading of all payroll data to the accounting system. Responsible for opening and closing the accounting periods within the internal accounting system Reconciliation of all bank and credit card transactions, as well as interest expense, and short and long-term debt balances against the internal accounting system. Reconciliation of hotel property system reporting such as for advanced purchase, guest, and direct bill ledgers against that of the internal accounting system. Manage accrual entries and other journal entries relating to the month-end closing process Perform a financial review and make necessary adjustments to prepare draft financials for month-end closing process Preparation and distribution of financial statements and related reporting for team review and other financial stakeholders in connection with the month-end closing process. Adjusting entries required to finalize financial statements and close books in a timely manner. Gather information for 1099 reporting and send to CPA. Gather information relating to preparation of financial statements for reporting to the IRS and for the preparation of state and federal tax returns and send to the CPA. Work closely with auditors during internal and external audits, ensuring all financial transactions are accurate and well-documented. Conduct regular financial analysis and provide insights to management regarding hotel performance, trends, and areas of improvement. Investigate suspicious and unusual anomalies within the internal invoice tracking and accounting systems Preparation of training materials necessary for property level staff. Follows company policies and procedures and is able to effectively communicate them to subordinates. Other duties as assigned by supervisor or management. Desired profile Must have a safe and quiet workspace suitable for remote work. Provide your own computer and phone with a reliable internet connection sufficient for work tasks Verbal and written proficiency in English Must be available for work meetings between 8:00am to 12:00pm US Central Time.
