Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Step into a rewarding contract opportunity as a Special Education Teacher supporting students in schools near the Gretna, LA area for the 2026-2027 academic year. Help shape the educational journey of students while collaborating with a dedicated team of educators and administrators. This contract spans from August 3, 2026, to May 27, 2027, with a Monday–Friday schedule (7-hour days, 30-minute unpaid lunch), totaling 35 hours per week. School assignments and specific caseload details will be determined, ideally matching your expertise and interest.
Qualifications:
- Current and active Louisiana Department of Education Special Education certification (Louisiana DOE Cert required)
- Prior experience in Special Education instruction and services
- Ability to pass drug screening and fingerprint background checks required by the district and credentialing process
- Flexibility for multiple school or caseload assignments (TBD)
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Immediate availability (district prefers candidates not awaiting certification approval)
Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and inclusive instruction to students as outlined in IEPs
- Work collaboratively with general education teachers, school staff, and families to implement effective interventions
- Participate in IEP meetings and ongoing student progress reviews
- Maintain timely and accurate records of student progress and compliance documentation
- Adapt teaching methods and materials to accommodate diverse learning needs
