Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Step into a meaningful role supporting students as a Special Education Teacher for the 2026-2027 academic year. This is a contract position offering the opportunity to work with a dedicated district committed to fostering inclusive learning environments. With a Monday through Friday schedule (7-hour days and a 30-minute lunch), you’ll be an integral part of helping students thrive.
Your expertise as a Special Education Teacher will make a true difference, serving elementary through high school age groups (specific caseload details to be provided). You’ll be assigned to one or more campuses in the Harvey, LA area, with finalized school assignments before your start date in early August.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Current, valid Louisiana Department of Education teaching certificate—must be fully certified prior to application
- Previous experience as a Special Education Teacher in a school setting preferred
- Ability to pass district-required drug screening and fingerprinting, plus agency credentialing checks
- Committed to student-centered, individualized learning plans and collaboration with school staff and families
Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Deliver differentiated instruction to meet students’ diverse needs
- Work collaboratively with general education teachers, support staff, and parents
- Track and document student progress, adjusting strategies as necessary
- Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and professional development offerings
