Adjunct Faculty - Adult Education and Literacy CE, Grant-Funded (Multiple Locations) Job ID: 44224 Location: LSC-Montgomery; LSC-Houston North Greenspoint Employment: Part-Time, Temporary This position is a temporary, grant-funded role for teaching Adult Education courses, contingent upon continued grant funding. Purpose and Scope Teaching faculty provide learning activities and support that will lead to the achievement of course objectives and contribute to the educational environment of the college and the community. Primary responsibilities are to plan, develop, and teach courses in a manner that facilitates student learning. Essential Job Functions Teaches Adult Education courses including GED, ESOL, Pre-Algebra and Math, and Reading support classes at a variety of times and locations. Creates engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of the material. Submits required college reports and forms in a timely manner. Utilizes a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines. Meets with and advises students by appointment, electronic communication, or other appropriate methods. Evaluates students to measure progress in achieving course objectives and informs students promptly. Maintains professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community. Attends meetings, trainings, and orientations as required. Performs other reasonable, related duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Project leadership skills. Physical Abilities The work is sedentary, requiring occasional walking, standing, bending, and carrying light items such as papers or books. No special physical demands are required. Work Schedule & Conditions Equipment: PC workstation on a LAN, calculator, phone and general office equipment. Interface with internal and external contacts as needed. Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal safety hazards. Hours vary depending on class time; instructors must be available outside scheduled instruction. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree and at least 3 years of related work experience. Completion of 15 hours of Adult Education-specific professional development/trainings each program year to maintain teaching eligibility. Salary $55.44 per contact hour.
