Safety Manager

Position Summary
The Safety Manager provides site-wide safety leadership and ensures compliance with all safety standards and regulations. This role partners closely with leadership, employees, and customers to achieve safety, quality, delivery, and cost (SQDC) objectives while fostering a strong culture of safety across the operation.
Key Responsibilities
Safety & Operational Leadership
- Lead and manage safety programs across multiple shifts and operational areas
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations
- Serve as the subject matter expert on safety processes and continuous improvement initiatives
- Oversee material flow processes to meet SQDC standards
- Monitor and control safety risks related to raw materials and process variables
Talent Management
- Lead and develop MAU team members, including supervisors and full-time employees
- Support and reinforce Leader Standard Work practices
- Coach, mentor, and evaluate team members using KPIs and performance development assessments (PDAs)
- Facilitate conflict resolution among employees, supervisors, and customer partners
Program & Project Management
- Manage and continuously improve the MAU safety program at the site
- Conduct annual safety assessments and drive Safety Action Plans
- Oversee OSHA-required safety programs and annual training compliance
- Lead onboarding safety training for new associates
- Manage the Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) training program
- Develop and maintain safety training materials, standard work, and procedures
- Conduct safety audits (SafetyNet, BBS, PIT observations) and track/trend safety data
- Implement corrective actions to reduce risk and improve performance
- Partner with leadership teams to prioritize safety in all operations
Crisis Management
- Serve as an on-call resource (24/7) for safety and HR-related incidents, including injuries, property damage, and personnel issues
Additional Responsibilities
- Participate in MAU and customer Safety Steering Committees
- Support HR-related initiatives as part of the MAU HR team
- Administer the SafetyNet system for the site
- Deliver OSHA 10- and 30-hour training courses as an Outreach Trainer
- Promote a proactive safety culture by identifying hazards and driving corrective actions

Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree OR high school diploma/GED with 6+ years of relevant safety experience in a manufacturing or logistics environment
- 4+ years of safety leadership experience in a manufacturing or logistics environment
- OSHA 10
Preferred
- Lean Green Belt certification
- Root cause analysis training
- Current OSHA General Industry Outreach Instructor certification (OTI 511 & 501)
- OSHA 30
- Certified Safety Professional
- OSHA 510
Supervisory Responsibility
- Lead safety training specialists
- Provide direction to shift supervisors and approximately 100–150 hourly employees

Work Environment
This role operates in both administrative and industrial environments, including manufacturing and warehouse settings. Conditions may include exposure to heavy equipment, powered industrial vehicles, and varying temperatures (non-climate-controlled areas or GMP clean rooms).
Physical Requirements
- Ability to walk up to 6 miles per day
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation
Travel
- Occasional travel for training or team events (typically less than 25 miles per month)
