Director, Product Management, Payroll

We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Director, Product Management, Payroll to join our People Team. This role can be located in New York, NY.Own the payroll product strategy by defining and delivering the digital product vision for payroll experiences and capabilities across domestic and international payroll processes, including pay administration, controls, compliance, and colleague supportLead payroll transformation initiatives by identifying opportunities to simplify, standardize, and modernize payroll operations, reducing manual effort and improving accuracy, timeliness, and employee experienceBuild and scale payroll products by owning roadmap, prioritization, and delivery for payroll capabilities that support a complex global workforce across multiple countries, jurisdictions, and operating modelsEnable operational excellence by partnering with Payroll, HR, Finance, Technology, Risk, Compliance, and vendor teams to improve payroll workflows, controls, issue resolution, and service deliveryEnable global consistency with local compliance by designing product solutions that balance standardized experiences with country-specific payroll requirements, statutory obligations, and regulatory considerationsUse data and insights to improve outcomes by defining success metrics, monitoring payroll performance, and leveraging user feedback and operational data to continuously enhance products and processesTo be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:10+ years of experience in product management, payroll operations, payroll transformation, or enterprise platform leadershipDeep experience with domestic and international payroll operations, processes, and controls, including multi-country payroll environmentsExperience building or enhancing enterprise payroll products, platforms, or operational workflowsStrong understanding of global payroll regulations, compliance requirements, governance, and risk considerationsTrack record delivering complex, cross-functional transformation initiatives across HR, Finance, Technology, and OperationsExperience working with payroll technology, HR systems, vendor platforms, and service delivery modelsStrong executive communication and stakeholder management skillsAbility to align business process, technology strategy, control requirements, and colleague experienceExperience leading cross-functional teams and driving delivery without direct authorityData-driven mindset with experience using metrics, service insights, and process analysis to inform product decisionsBNY assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $130,000 and $240,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNY total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs.
