Senior Patient Services Specialist The Senior Patient Services Specialist provides support and clinic coordination of multiple patient care services across several campuses of the Swedish Cancer Institute. This role exercises independence in planning and accomplishing a wide spectrum of clerical duties, including scheduling new patients and follow‑up appointments, arranging treatments and diagnostic tests, obtaining insurance verifications, referrals, and authorizations, managing and reconciling the patient’s medical record and billing issues, answering multiple phone lines, and triaging calls. Excellent communication, problem‑solving, compassion, sensitivity, and emotional stability are essential, especially when working with oncology patients. Responsibilities Schedule new patients, follow‑up clinic appointments, treatments, and diagnostic tests. Obtain insurance verifications, referrals, and authorizations. Prepare and maintain the patient’s medical record. Reconcile billing issues. Answer and triage multiple phone lines. Act as a liaison with patients, families, other departments, and third‑party payers. Provide information on oncology support services available at the Swedish Cancer Institute. Partner in the orientation and training of new staff. Complete special project assignments as directed and handle frequent interruptions with a customer‑service approach (AIDET Level II). Required Qualifications Successful completion of oncology administrative training within six months of hire. Medical Terminology Certification or completion of a Medical Terminology course within 180 days of hire. At least one year of experience in a healthcare setting (e.g., physician’s office, scheduler). Experience obtaining insurance verifications, referrals, and authorizations. Preferred Qualifications Associate’s degree with an emphasis in health care or a related field. Associate degree or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school with an emphasis in health care.
