Field Payroll CBA Specialist

The Field Payroll CBA Specialist serves as a subject‑matter expert for union benefits and CBA payroll compliance. This role manages complex reconciliations, system configuration, audits, and cross‑functional coordination. What You’ll Do Ensure all union fringe benefits are accurately set up and calculated in payroll systems. Reconcile fringe benefit accruals, payments, and general ledger entries. Prepare and post monthly journal entries for fringe benefits. Coordinate payroll adjustments with other Field Payroll teams and complete them in a timely manner. Prepare monthly fringe reports and element register reports (401(k), health plans, supplemental benefits). Collaborate with Trust Funds and Local Unions to maintain accurate member data. Address complex reporting errors and amend fringe reports as needed. Assist auditors with compliance audits and respond to audit mail requests. Support labor statistics reporting and survey requirements. Prepare pension footnotes for financial statements and annual pension contribution reports. Identify process improvement and automation opportunities. Work with IT on union benefits reporting issues and system enhancements. Help train Field Payroll CBA Specialist 1 and 2 on their assigned tasks. Respond to complex trust funds, union, and employee inquiries and determine when escalation is needed. Provide support on other tasks such as fringe reports, reviewing incoming mail, new hire setup, and VOE requests. Make deduction and refund adjustments for under‑ or over‑payments. Update Rate Grids and communicate all CBA agreement changes to impacted parties. Prepare SOPs and documentation to ensure all policies and procedures are followed. What You’ll Need To Be Successful Advanced knowledge of payroll and union fringe requirements. Ability to independently follow procedures and policies. Ability to work under time pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude. Ability to mentor others and share expertise to strengthen the company. Strong reconciliation, analytical, and problem‑solving skills. Strong attention to detail and adherence to established processes. Effective written and verbal communication skills. What You Bring To Us Associate degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 5 to 7 years of progressive union payroll or benefits experience. Advanced knowledge of CBAs, fringe benefits, and multi‑union environments. In‑depth experience with multi‑state union payrolls. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word). Exposure to payroll systems preferred; Oracle Fusion is a plus. Travel Up to 5% Working Conditions General work environment – sitting for long periods, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, bending. Work is conducted primarily indoors with varying environmental conditions such as fluorescent lighting and air conditioning. Noise level is usually low to medium; it can be loud on the jobsite. Occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs. Pay Range $38.60‑$51.00 Hourly The pay range for this role is what we expect to pay for candidates that meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this job description.
