Job Description:

Seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the Intensive Care Unit. The role involves providing care to critically ill patients with complex needs. The candidate must be comfortable working a 48-hour per week contract and have strong critical thinking and assessment skills.

Responsibilities:

• Provide care to complex ICU patients, including those with surgical, medical, cardiac, neuro, and trauma conditions.
• Manage patients with conditions such as ARDS, MI, CVA/TIA, COVID, and post-surgical trauma.
• Administer IV medications and manage ventilators and hemodynamic lines.

Requirements:

• 2 years of ICU experience excluding travel experience is preferred.
• Current BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and TNCC certifications required.
• Experience with Epic charting system.
• Completion of an approved nursing education program; must be a Registered Nurse (RN) licensed by the South Dakota Board of Nursing.

Unit Details

Unit Description
General Information
Beds: 39 - MICU, SICU, CICU, TICU - mixed unit
Minimal Experience:
2 years of ICU experience EXCLUDING travel experience is most preferred
If they have 1.5 years of ICU experience EXCLUDING travel, please have CRT send to management team for approval
Will you accept a first-time traveler? No. Minimum one prior travel assignment
Traveler must reside >100 miles outside of facility
Permanent staff must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
Patient Types:
Complex ICU patients ranging from surgical, medical, cardiac (preferred), neuro and trauma
Diagnoses include: ARDS, MI, CVA/TIA, COVID, s/p cardiac cath, post-surgical, multiple system trauma - heavy trauma population
Cardiac experience is preferred (not required): CABG/TAVR - 24 to 48 hrs post op experience is preferred but not required for travelers
Will not take fresh open hearts unless they are experienced, and the facility felt comfortable with this - given to permanent staff
