Caring for patients pre-op, in phase I, and phase II recovery. PACU nurses care for patients after surgery and must demonstrate advanced knowledge of anesthesiology and caring for patients in Phase I. Candidates for PACU jobs require critical care skills to assess incision sites, monitor body temperature, and track other indicators of stability or complications. Ideal candidates for post-anesthesia care units have natural abilities to think critically.

Responsibilities:

• Caring for patients pre-op, and in phase I and phase II recovery
• Assess incision sites and monitor body temperature and other indicators of stability or complications

Requirements:

• 2+ years experience as a critical care RN (i.e., ER & ICU) in a hospital setting may be accepted as a substitute for PACU nurse experience
• Valid BLS and ACLS from the American Heart Association
• A valid professional license within the state of practice
• A Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) credential from the American Heart Association is recommended
