The RN II plays a vital role in delivering direct nursing care to patients and their families, adhering to established protocols, policies, and practices.

Oncology Unit - Main Campus

Work Schedule

• Hours: 36 hours per week, full-time
• Shift: 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Availability: Required to work on holidays and weekends

Job Responsibilities

The RN II will:

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients with various diagnoses and co-morbidities.
• Administer treatments and medications as per established guidelines.
• Monitor patient conditions closely, especially in a critical care environment.
• Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications

• Valid RN licensure in Massachusetts.
• Experience: 12 months to less than 3 years as a registered nurse.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Department-specific certifications may be required based on patient care needs.

Unit Summary

This Oncology Intermediate Care Unit features 16 beds, including 2 private and 7 semi-private rooms. The unit specializes in caring for adult patients with acute conditions, including but not limited to:

• Chest pain
• Congestive heart failure
• New onset A-fib
• Post-cardiac catheterization
• COPD requiring high flow and BiPAP
• GI bleeds
• Oncology/Hematology, including chemotherapy administration

The nurse-to-patient ratio is more favorable than on medical-surgical floors, allowing for enhanced monitoring of patients.

Required Qualifications

• Current RN licensure in Massachusetts in good standing.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is highly preferred.
• Candidates with an Associate’s degree in nursing may be considered, with encouragement to enroll in a BSN program within one year of hire.
• Preferred experience of 1-2 years in telemetry or intermediate care settings.
• BLS certification is mandatory; ACLS certification is preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

Our compensation philosophy aims to provide fair and competitive pay that attracts and retains talented individuals while recognizing the significant contributions you make daily. The base pay range for this position is:

$37.50 - $47.41
