Location: Rochester, NY

Duration: 13 weeks

Shift: Day – 3x12 hours (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)

About the Unit

This is a 14-bed overflow unit created to support Emergency Department (ED) patients waiting for inpatient beds. The unit operates within the GI Endoscopy area and functions as a Med/Surg Telemetry unit. Patient volume may increase or decrease based on hospital needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic nursing care for adult patients
• Monitor vital signs and patient conditions
• Assist with admissions and patient care activities
• Communicate patient status changes to RNs and physicians
• Perform blood glucose monitoring
• Assist with feeding tube and Foley catheter care
• Administer medications (oral, injections, eye/ear drops, NG/G-tube)
• Provide wound care and dressing changes
• Support oxygen therapy and respiratory care
• Follow isolation precautions and PPE guidelines
• Float to other Med/Surg units as needed

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of LVN/LPN experience
• Current BLS certification
• Experience using Epic charting system required
• First-time travelers accepted
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Every other weekend coverage required
• Floating may be required based on staffing needs

• Med/Surg and Telemetry experience

• Foley catheter insertion
• Feeding tube care
• Oxygen administration
• Patient admission and monitoring
• Wound care and basic respiratory support
• Telemetry monitoring and EKGs
