Accounts Receivable ClerkThe Accounts Receivable Clerk plays a critical role in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting revenue collection across all areas of East West College's operations. East West College is a vocational school specializing in massage therapy education. This position is responsible for processing and recording all incoming payments, preparing bank deposits, and ensuring accurate posting of revenue in QuickBooks. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, has at least 5 years experience working with student receivables, and able to provide friendly, professional customer service to students and clients.Key ResponsibilitiesRevenue Processing & RecordingPrepare daily deposits of income from all sources including student tuition, continuing education fees, classroom rentals, campus store sales, and massage clinic servicesPost income accurately to appropriate accounts in QuickBooks, maintaining organized and current financial recordsReconcile payment receipts with bank deposits and QuickBooks entriesProcess credit card, check, and cash payments according to established proceduresBe familiar with PalPay, Square, or similar merchant account processing softwareStudent Account SupportAccept and process payments from students for tuition and feesServe as backup to the Student Accounts Coordinator in their absenceProvide information to students regarding payment plans, balances, and payment optionsSupport student payment agreement administration as neededAdministrative DutiesMaintain organized filing systems for payment documentation and deposit recordsGenerate reports on revenue collection as requestedCommunicate discrepancies or issues to the VP of Finance promptlyAssist with month-end closing procedures related to accounts receivableQualificationsRequired:Minimum 5 years experience in accounts receivable, bookkeeping, or related financial roleProficiency with QuickBooks or similar accounting softwareStrong attention to detail and accuracy with numerical dataExcellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple revenue streamsProfessional communication skills for interacting with students and staffBasic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)Preferred:Experience in educational or service industry settingsFamiliarity with student account management or payment plan administrationAssociate's degree in accounting, business, or related fieldSkills & CompetenciesAccuracy and attention to detailTime management and ability to meet daily deposit deadlinesCustomer service orientationDiscretion and confidentiality with financial informationProblem-solving abilitiesReliable and dependableWork EnvironmentOffice setting in downtown PortlandStandard business hours with occasional flexibilityCollaboration with finance, admissions, and student services teamsYou're a Great Fit If YouLove people and genuinely enjoy helping others feel welcomeStay calm and organized even when things get busyAre a natural team player who jumps in to help wherever neededCommunicate clearly and professionally in person, on the phone, and in writingCan juggle multiple tasks and switch gears throughout the dayPay attention to details (but don't lose sight of the bigger picture)Are comfortable with basic computer systems and willing to learn new onesWhy You'll Love Working HereBe part of a mission-driven educational communityWork in downtown Portland with easy access to public transportationJoin a supportive, collaborative team environmentMake a real difference in students' educational journeysHow to ApplySend your resume and a cover letter telling us why you'd be a great fit for this role.East West College is an equal opportunity employer.
