Development DirectorLocation: Los Angeles, Fresno, or Sacramento (Hybrid - 2 days in office, 3 days remote)Travel: Monthly to quarterly in-state, once or twice a year out of stateTerm: Full-time, occasional evening and weekends requiredPosition Status: ExemptPay Range: $135,000 - $165,000 annually, commensurate with skills and experience.Reports to: Deputy Executive DirectorThe mission of the California Immigrant Policy Center (CIPC) is to uphold the humanity of immigrant communities in California by transforming systems to achieve racial, social, and economic justice. CIPC is a non-partisan, non-profit statewide organization engaging in advocacy, organizing, and strategic communications to uplift immigrant communities.Over the past 30 years, CIPC has led groundbreaking campaigns that have vastly expanded protections for California's low-income immigrant populations.Position SummaryThe Development Director is a senior leadership role responsible for shaping and advancing CIPC's comprehensive fundraising strategy in support of immigrant rights and community power. This role leads all fundraising efforts, ensuring the long-term sustainability and growth of the organization.Primary ResponsibilitiesFundraising Strategy & Revenue GenerationEstablish annual fundraising goals in partnership with the Deputy Executive Director and Executive Director.Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive and diversified annual development plan.Evaluate fundraising performance throughout the year and adjust strategies to meet or exceed revenue goals.Conduct prospect research to identify and cultivate new institutional, corporate, and major gift funding opportunities.Grant Development & ComplianceLead grant management, strategy, writing, submission, and reporting.Ensure program staff are informed of grant requirements, deliverables, and reporting timelines.Support the programmatic and operations team with subgranting processes for regional and direct service partners.Donor & Funder RelationsResearch, cultivate, steward, and grow individual donor and major gift portfolios.Develop and maintain strong relationships with major donors, foundation officers, corporate partners, and other funding prospects.Plan and execute sponsorship cultivation for conferences, regional trainings, and special events.Develop high-quality donor-facing materials that clearly communicate CIPC's mission, vision, impact, and funding priorities.Communications, Marketing & EventsLead digital fundraising strategy in collaboration with Communications staff.Collaborate with the Communications team to create compelling multimedia and written resources in support of development efforts.Oversee the planning and execution of fundraising events and donor engagements.Oversee the management and regular updating of development and marketing materials.Systems, Data & OperationsOversee development operations, including accurate tracking of grants, individual giving, and donor engagement.Ensure data integrity, reporting accuracy, and effective use of development systems.Leadership, Management & Cross-Functional CollaborationSupervise and mentor the Development team.Serve as an active member of the Management Team.Partner with program staff to design and implement fundraising strategies.Represent CIPC at organizational functions, funder meetings, and relevant fundraising or association events.QualificationsMinimum of ten years of experience in development and fundraising.Minimum of seven years of supervising experience.Demonstrated experience in the nonprofit development space.Proven track record of raising an annual operating budget of at least $5 million.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Strong leadership and management skills.Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively.Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple projects, and prioritize well.Strategic thinking – Ability to understand the fundraising trends locally and nationally.Experience fundraising for low-income communities of color preferred.Experience with and knowledge of computer operation; knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and CRM database applications.Special Requirements – occasional travel is required.Compensation and BenefitsPaid medical, dental, vision insurance, and life insurance.3% contribution to 401 (k) retirement plan.Commuter benefit or paid parking access.Monthly reimbursement for cell and internet usage.$1,500 professional development allowance.4-week paid sabbatical after 7 years of service.Generous time off policy.Application InformationPosition is open until filled.
