Embark on a rewarding contract opportunity supporting middle school students as a Sign Language Interpreter in a dynamic educational environment. You’ll have the chance to make a direct impact by working 1:1 with a student, fostering communication and academic success. This position offers part-time, afternoon hours from 12:00 to 3:30pm CST, with the potential to increase to full-time in the future. Both onsite and virtual (VOCO) candidates will be considered, although onsite is preferred.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Minimum of a 3.5 EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment) score required
• Demonstrated experience in educational settings, supporting students who are Deaf or hard of hearing
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and a strong understanding of deaf culture
• Ability to interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and extracurricular activities accurately
• Excellent communication skills and professionalism when collaborating with teachers and staff
• Comfort with technology and virtual platforms, if considering a VOCO assignment

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 sign language interpretation for a middle school student, ensuring equal access to curriculum and activities
• Collaborate with educational teams to adapt communication strategies to student needs
• Support student participation in all aspects of school life, including classes, assemblies, and events
• Maintain ethical standards for confidentiality and interpretation within the school environment
• Document services provided and student progress as needed
