Full-Time Baker

Merenda Box is a Brazilian-inspired bakery specializing in handcrafted pastries, breads, laminated doughs, savory items, and specialty baked goods. We are seeking an experienced Full-Time Baker to join our team in Conshohocken.

This is a key opening position within the bakery. The Full-Time Baker is responsible for opening the bakery, preparing the kitchen for service, and executing the morning bake and daily production according to established recipes, schedules, and quality standards.

The position requires strong professional baking experience, excellent organization, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently during the early part of the day. The baker must be able to manage multiple products at different stages of production while maintaining consistency, sanitation, and an efficient workflow.

• Open the bakery and prepare the kitchen, equipment, ovens, and work areas for daily production.
• Review production needs and organize the morning bake according to established schedules and priorities.
• Scale, mix, shape, proof, bake, fill, finish, and portion bakery products.
• Prepare doughs, batters, fillings, and other components according to standardized recipes and specifications.
• Manage multiple products and stages of production simultaneously while maintaining timing and accuracy.
• Monitor dough development, proofing, oven temperatures, bake times, and finished product quality.
• Maintain consistency in product size, weight, appearance, texture, and presentation.
• Evaluate products throughout the baking process and make appropriate adjustments when necessary.
• Ensure products required for opening and daily service are completed on schedule.
• Maintain proper labeling, dating, storage, temperature control, and FIFO rotation.
• Maintain clean, organized, and sanitary work areas, equipment, tools, and storage spaces throughout the shift.
• Follow established food safety, allergen, sanitation, and cross-contamination procedures.
• Operate and care for commercial mixers, ovens, proofing equipment, and other bakery equipment.
• Communicate production needs, ingredient shortages, quality concerns, and equipment issues promptly.
• Support prep, inventory, receiving, and other bakery operations as needed.

• Professional commercial baking experience required.
• Minimum 2 years of professional bakery, pastry, or high-volume baking experience preferred.
• Current ServSafe Manager Certification required.
• Demonstrated experience independently executing bakery production from recipes and production schedules.
• Strong knowledge of professional baking methods, dough handling, proofing, temperature control, and baking techniques.
• Experience working with standardized formulas, precise weights, and commercial bakery equipment.
• Strong understanding of food safety, sanitation, allergen management, and proper food storage.
• Excellent organization and time-management skills.
• Ability to prioritize production and manage several products simultaneously.
• Ability to recognize and address quality issues during production.
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions within established bakery standards.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality are essential for this opening position.
• Clear and professional communication with bakery staff and management.

• Starting at $18+/hour, based on professional experience and qualifications.
