Inspired by Chef Rice's travels, our menu is constantly evolving while remaining grounded in thoughtful hospitality, exceptional ingredients, and refined technique. Since opening in 2021, Ernest has been recognized by the Michelin Guide for its ingredient-driven cooking and commitment to hospitality.

About the Role

As a Chef de Partie, you'll play an integral role in executing a menu that changes with the seasons and reflects our commitment to craftsmanship, hospitality, and continual improvement.

You'll execute your station with consistency, precision, and a sense of urgency while working alongside a team that believes excellence comes from discipline, collaboration, and a genuine desire to learn.

Station Execution

• Execute your station with consistency, precision, and attention to detail.
• Prepare and cook seasonal dishes while following Ernest's recipes, techniques, and plating standards.
• Taste and evaluate your work throughout the day to ensure quality and consistency.
• Complete daily prep while maintaining organization and efficiency.
• Adapt to changing priorities while remaining calm and organized during service.

Organization & Standards

• Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workstation before, during, and after service.
• Properly store, label, date, and rotate all products in accordance with food safety standards.
• Take pride in maintaining your station, equipment, and shared kitchen spaces.

Teamwork

• Communicate clearly and respectfully with teammates throughout the day.
• Support your teammates and contribute to a collaborative kitchen culture.
• Receive feedback with humility and use it as an opportunity to improve.
• Lead by example through professionalism, accountability, curiosity, and respect.

Qualifications

• One year of professional cooking experience preferred.
• Passion for cooking and a desire to continually learn and improve.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to multitask while maintaining composure in a fast-paced environment.
• Professional, dependable, and team-oriented.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
• California Food Handler Card, or the ability to obtain one before employment, preferred.

Compensation & Benefits

• Competitive hourly compensation of $20.00 to $25.00, depending on experience.
• Participation in Ernest's tip pool in accordance with applicable law.
• Two consecutive days off each week.
