Elementary Assistant Principal

Position Overview Elementary Assistant Principal – 11‑month position at Perry Central School starting July12026 (or as soon as available). Salary: $75,000–$80,000, commensurate with experience. Qualifications NYS Certification – School Building Leader (Initial or Professional level). Instructional experience at the elementary level preferred (not required). Effective communicator with professional training in First Aid, CPR/AED, and Youth Mental Health First Aid (Trauma, Illness, and Grief). Understanding of early childhood development and restorative practices. Responsibilities Assist in the general administration of the school and serve as acting principal when the principal is absent. Manage all support staff (PreK‑6) including human resources, scheduling, duties, and evaluations. Support positive community interaction by working cooperatively with school personnel, students, and families. Assist with building programs such as student‑teacher programs, school improvement, safety, instructional, and enrichment programs. Implement elementary school behavior policies, restorative practices, and district attendance policy. Supervise lunchroom, arrival/departure procedures, and related staff. Assist the principal with faculty evaluation, professional learning communities, and instructional coordination. Plan faculty meetings, professional learning opportunities, and state testing preparations. Co‑chair Elementary 504 meetings and support self‑contained PLCs. Participate in district teams: Shared Decision Making, Administrative Team, Pupil Personnel, Grade Chairpersons, District Safety, and Elementary/Junior High School Emergency Response. Develop annual performance goals with the principal. Build the master schedule and support elementary interview teams. Order and maintain curriculum workbooks. Desired Characteristics Maintains professional relationships with essential stakeholders. Excellent instructional leadership: curriculum development, RTI using MTSS Dashboard. Consistent classroom visits to observe student learning. Familiar with iReady and RGR technology components. Positive force in the building for students and staff, exhibiting joy for the work.
