Job Summary:
Provides supervision of all on-site activities at a Friends of Children and Families (FOCAF) Head Start and Early Head Start Center locations to ensure compliance of Head Start and Early Head Start educational and operational Performance Standards and to provide quality comprehensive family-centered early childhood services; performs related work as required.

Essential Functions:

• Directs the planning and implementation of operational procedures for the Head Start Center in compliance with all relevant federal, state, county, and city statutes.
• Ensures the Center meets the educational, recreational, nutritional, physical, and health needs of children in safe activities that stimulate children’s growth and development.
• Directs and/or provides support services for all children and staff working with families to effectively transition children into and out of Head Start programs.
• Directly supervises the general work duties of Teachers, Assistant Teachers, Family Advocates, Food Service Staff, Early Childhood Parent Educator, Transportation Staff, and Substitutes, and any other staff assigned to the Center.
• Assists with interviewing and hiring of staff.
• Assists and ensures adequate training of staff, parents, and volunteers.
• Maintains monthly office supply, janitorial, education, and family engagement budgets, spending and ordering as assigned for the center.
• Monitors data on children and families in the Center’s program.
• Maintains effective communications with others, including guiding, training, coaching, and mentoring of staff; maintains professional communications with children, parents, and the community.
• Maintains professionalism within the Center. Accepts supervision and direction, gives, and receives feedback on the quality of services and administration of the center.
• Monitors center attendance and homebased participation on a regular basis.
• Responsible for reviewing classroom inventories and ordering consumables, materials and furniture as needed.
• Assists in the coordination of Family Fun Nights, PAL, and PAWS.
• Trains safety practices, models safe maintenance of the environment, and utilizes monitoring to ensure safety at the Center location.
• Adheres to and ensures compliance with the FOCAF Confidentiality Policy which safeguards the confidentiality of children and families served by the Center.
• Assists in assuring that all Center Staff meet minimum job qualifications and completes professional development plans.
• Completes performance evaluations and ongoing professional development plans in coordination with coordinators and managers as needed in an unbiased and timely manner.
• Performs all work duties and activities in accordance with Head Start Performance Standards, and FOCAF policies, procedures, and safety practices.
• Routinely drives personal vehicle to FOCAF Centers, programs, and various other locations as needed to complete job duties.
• Ensures and monitors the security of the facility and equipment. Distributes and tracks the inventory of center keys and codes.
• Ensures direct staff gather and submit complete and accurate IN KIND.
• Recruits volunteers and monitors the family- engagement program at the center.
• Monitors licensing compliance tasks monthly.
• Demonstrates commitment for professional development and continuous growth by actively seeking out and participating in training opportunities.
• Engages with supervisor and co-workers on constructive and timely feedback, accepting feedback as a growth opportunity, and is open to continuous improvement for oneself and the organization.

Qualifications:

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with at least an Associate Degree preferred Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or Leadership and Management preferred; and
• Required experience in a supervisory position.
• Must pass a criminal background check that meets required state, federal, and FOCAF Head Start standards.
• Must pass a Health Physical Screen and TB test.
• Must pass a drug test and submit to random drug and/or alcohol testing.
• Ability to complete training and maintain Boise City Child Care Worker License when applicable.
• Ability to complete training and maintain certification in First Aid and CPR.
• Bilingual preferred.
