About the Role:

While maintaining the core responsibilities of a Direct Care Professional—such as assisting with daily living activities, administering medications, and providing emotional support—the Senior Direct Care Professional role involves additional leadership and oversight. This is a float position within a designated region, meaning you will be assigned to multiple homes based on client needs and organizational priorities. 

As a senior team member, you will work across various locations, demonstrating higher levels of expertise, independence, and responsibility. You will mentor and support junior staff, report to multiple team leaders, and ensure consistent, high-quality care across all assigned homes. This role requires adaptability, strong communication skills, and a proactive approach to meet the dynamic needs of clients and the organization, ultimately contributing to a nurturing environment that promotes clients’ independence and well-being.

Minimum Qualifications:

- High school diploma or equivalent.

- Valid CPR and First Aid certification.

- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (if travel between homes is required)  

- At least two years of direct care experience, preferably in a group home setting or similar environment  

- Ability to work independently and adapt to different environments within a regional area

Preferred Qualifications:

Certification in Direct Support Professional (DSP) or similar.

Experience working with individuals with disabilities or special needs.

Knowledge of behavioral management techniques.

Responsibilities :

Assist clients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.

Administer medications and monitor health conditions as per care plans.

Provide emotional support and companionship to clients, fostering a positive and encouraging atmosphere.

Document client progress and report any changes in behavior or health to the appropriate team members.

Participate in training and development sessions to enhance caregiving skills and knowledge.

Skills:

Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential for building rapport with clients, families, and team members. You must be able to work independently, adapt to multiple environments within a regional area, and be flexible and reliable in a float position. Attention to detail is important for administering medications and documenting care accurately. A compassionate, empathetic approach is key when supporting individuals with disabilities or special needs. Basic caregiving skills and a valid driver’s license with reliable transportation.
