Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Stepdown Discipline: RN Start Date: 07/06/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, days Employment Type: Travel RN Step Down (CVU) | Omaha, Nebraska Registered Nurse opportunities are available in a Step Down (CVU) unit within an acute care setting. The role supports intermediate care and downgraded CVICU patients, with strong program support related to thoracic services, electrophysiology, cath lab, and structural heart. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day. Job Details Schedule: 12-hour shifts (06301900 or 18300700) with a minimum of 36 hours per week; weekends required every other weekend. Required Qualifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification; RN license to submit; driver’s license required at submittal. Preferred Qualifications: None listed. Additional Information: Unit commonly manages patients requiring intermediate care and downgraded CVICU status, with diagnoses including thoracic‑related needs, cardiac and vascular conditions (including stroke, congestive heart failure, and atrial fibrillation with rapid ventricular response). RN responsibilities include reading and interpreting telemetry/monitoring information, and supporting titratable or set rate infusion therapies such as amiodarone, nitroglycerin, nicardipine, epinephrine, and diltiazem (and other blood pressure management medications). Respiratory support equipment may include Bi‑level Positive Airway Pressure (BiPAP), Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP), and care involving transition to nasal cannula. Floating may be required to same level and lower levels of acuity. Unit orientation includes 12 shifts tailored to experience and needs. Open‑book exam and skills learning assessment occur during orientation; passing requirements apply (exam score of 90% required). Artificial nails are prohibited in departments providing patient care. RTO must be provided upfront (7 or less days per 13‑week contract); additional RTO is not approved, including after submissions. Trauma level listed as 1; charting occurs using Electronic Medical Record (EPIC).
