Residential Counselor

Lund seeks a Residential Counselor to provide essential parenting and life skills support in our therapeutic living community. As part of a team of Residential Counselors, this role guides residents in their daily routines, helping them develop life skills, socialization techniques, and personal responsibility while maintaining a structured and supportive environment. The Residential Counselor is a positive role model, offering mentorship and encouragement while implementing individualized treatment plans. They monitor resident progress, provide crisis intervention, and help create a safe, nurturing space where residents can thrive. The role includes setting clear and consistent boundaries, supervising daily schedules, assisting with household responsibilities, and supporting personal hygiene and self‑care routines. The Counselor also collaborates with the treatment team to report on progress and challenges, ensuring each resident receives the care they need. Additional Responsibilities Teach and supervise meal preparation Explain daily routine, schedules, and activities to new residents Transport residents when necessary Provide on‑site respite care to infants and young children in the program as necessary Administer medications, breathalyzers and urinalysis once trained to do so Complete daily and monthly documentation as required Report to Shift Supervisor and Associate Director when incidents or discussions appear harmful, dangerous, or inappropriate and need further exploration and action Assist with floor coverage and planning as needed to ensure adequate staffing levels The hourly rate is $24/hour. What You Will Bring A bachelor’s degree in a human services related field and one year experience in mental health Ability to juggle multiple priorities, deadlines and demands; ability to work well under pressure; availability to respond to occasional off‑hours crisis; some state‑wide travel to attend meetings; irregular hours at times to meet the needs of a 24-hour facility Ability to assist with childcare including lifting infants and toddlers; ability to assist in social skill training including cooking and cleaning Relevant experience may be substituted for a degree Ability to maintain a valid VT Driver’s License and access to reliable transportation is required; occasional statewide travel may be required The successful completion of a background and driving checks is a condition of employment.
