Job Title: Mechanical Assembly Technician
Job Description
The Mechanical Assembly Technician will be responsible for assembling and testing optical systems according to delivery schedules. This role involves working with multi-element lens and mirror systems, integrating opto-mechanical assemblies with electronics, and performing optical and mechanical tests and evaluations.
Responsibilities

• Assemble and align multi-element lens and mirror systems and sub-assemblies.
• Integrate opto-mechanical assemblies with electronics.
• Perform optical and mechanical test and evaluation.
• Assist with inspection of incoming optical, mechanical, and electronic components.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in using hand tools and reading blueprints.
• Experience in mechanical assembly and optical inspection.
• Understanding of electronic components and electrical assembly.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Knowledge of proper handling of precision optics, mirrors, lenses, and filters.
• High degree of precision, fine motor skills, and patience.
• Ability to use a microscope.
• Capability to read complex assembly drawings, diagrams, and instructions.

Work Environment
The work environment is a small team setting with the company in the early stages of growth. Employees must be comfortable with sitting and concentrating for extended periods. Clear communication in English is essential. The work schedule is Monday to Friday from 7 AM to 4 PM.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Herndon, VA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
