Senior Accountant in Hauppauge, Long Island, NY
Anna Parson at Robert Half is working with a large, well established manufacturing organization seeking a sharp Senior Accountant with manufacturing/distribution industry experience to join its corporate accounting team. The Senior Accountant will have a key role in financial reporting, month-end close, account analysis, and supporting the ongoing growth of a complex, multi-entity business environment. The ideal Senior Accountant candidate will bring strong technical accounting skills, experience in a corporate manufacturing setting coupled with Public Audit experience.
As the Senior Accountant, you will:
- Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and supporting schedules to maintain the integrity of financial records.
- Analyze financial results and prepare management reporting, including profitability analyses, variance explanations, and other decision-support reporting.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, company accounting policies, internal controls, and SOX requirements.
- Maintain accounting schedules and reporting related to revenue recognition, lease accounting, debt obligations, and key balance sheet accounts.
- Reconcile and analyze complex balance sheet accounts, researching and resolving discrepancies as needed.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and responding to audit requests.
- Identify and implement process improvements, automation opportunities, and system enhancements to improve efficiency and strengthen controls.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive corporate accounting experience, preferably within a large consumer products, manufacturing, distribution or product-based environment.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, month-end close, account reconciliations, revenue recognition, lease accounting, and accrual accounting.
- Advanced Excel and ERP system experience.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
