Financial Controller

Controller - Manufacturing Company (Islandia, NY)

Salary: $90,000-$120,000 | Full-Time | On-Site (Hybrid Potential After Ramp-Up)

A well?established manufacturing company in Islandia, NY is seeking an experienced Controller to oversee the organization's accounting operations and support the financial leadership of the business. This is a hands?on role that combines daily accounting management with higher?level financial oversight and strategic involvement. The position is fully on-site to start, with the possibility of a future hybrid schedule once performance and reliability are demonstrated.

Position Overview

The Controller will manage the company's accounting function, supervise a team of staff accountants, and partner closely with senior leadership on financial planning, reporting, and operational decision?making. This role requires strong technical accounting skills, leadership ability, and a proactive, solutions?oriented mindset.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all accounting operations, including A/P, A/R, general ledger, payroll, order entry, and related financial workflows
  
• Manage, mentor, and develop a team of staff accountants
  
• Prepare monthly and annual GAAP?compliant financial statements
  
• Coordinate with external CPA firm during annual audits
  
• Manage cash flow, including vendor payments, receivables, and banking relationships
  
• Prepare bank reporting and communicate directly with loan officers as needed
  
• Oversee sales tax, excise tax, and other regulatory filings
  
• Maintain and update accounting policies, internal controls, and financial procedures
  
• Prepare payroll, commissions, credits, reconciliations, and royalty reports
  
• Maintain insurance policies (general liability, medical, disability, life, workers' comp)
  
• Oversee 401(k) administration, including contributions, enrollments, and annual filings
  
• Support IT coordination with outsourced providers to ensure systems reliability
  
• Assist leadership with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
  
• Maintain documentation related to patents, trademarks, and renewal schedules

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting (CPA preferred, not required)
  
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
  
• Prior management or supervisory experience strongly preferred
  
• Proven ability to oversee full?cycle accounting operations
  
• Strong analytical and problem?solving skills
  
• Experience with ERP systems and comfort learning new software
  
• High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
  
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast?paced environment
  
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
