Executive Senior Associate Athletic Director / Chief Financial Officer

Responsible to the Director of Athletics for fiscal operations of the Department of Athletics, Student Activities Center (SAC), Charlotte 49ers Ventures, and the Charlotte 49ers Athletic Foundation. The position oversees budgeting, financial reporting, audits, insurance, and strategic financial planning.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare annual budgets in collaboration with department heads and coaches.
• Monitor travel, purchasing, financial aid, and miscellaneous expenses.
• Manage the internal Athletic Department Business Office and provide administrative budget approval.
• Provide regular budget reports to department heads and coaches.
• Develop funding models for major athletics facilities projects.
• Project and forecast revenue and expenditures to ensure positive year‑end budget outcomes.
• Act as Controller for the Department of Athletics, ensuring compliance with university policies, GASB standards, and related procedures.
• Coordinate external and internal financial audits, including EADA and NCAA reports.
• Oversee insurance programs for student‑athletes, vehicles, and travel.
• Manage agreements with travel agencies and other service providers.
• Assist with overall departmental strategic planning and conference positioning.
• Support the Director of Athletics in additional duties as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Administration, Business, or Accounting.
• Minimum five years of experience managing a business operation.
• Preferred: Master’s degree in a related field and experience in college athletics or higher education.
