Our organization is seeking a passionate, motivated, and caring Cardiologist to join the North Texas VA Healthcare System.

The medical center located in Leavenworth, Kansas, is a key part of the VA Eastern Kansas Health Care System. It offers a wide range of health care services to Veterans, including primary care, specialty care, mental health services, long-term care, and rehabilitation. Established in 1885, this facility is situated on a historic campus and caters to thousands of Veterans from northeastern Kansas and nearby regions. Additionally, it serves Veterans from northeast Kansas and Northwest Missouri, encompassing metropolitan Kansas City, rural communities, and tribal areas. The center is academically affiliated with the University of Kansas School of Medicine and various local nursing and pharmacy schools, contributing to the training of future health professionals.

• Facilities and Services: The center features 91 beds dedicated to acute and long-term care, along with extensive outpatient services.
• Historic Campus: Originally founded in 1885 for Civil War Veterans, several buildings on the campus are recognized on the National Register of Historic Places.

As a cardiologist at the Leavenworth VA Medical Center, you will play a crucial role in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cardiac and cardiovascular diseases affecting Veterans. Your primary duties will include:

• Direct Patient Care: Assessing, diagnosing, and managing cardiac conditions in both outpatient and inpatient environments.
• Diagnostic Testing: Conducting and interpreting tests such as echocardiograms, stress tests, ECGs, and other cardiovascular procedures.
• Team Collaboration: Partnering with primary care providers, surgeons, pharmacists, nurses, and other specialists to create comprehensive treatment plans.
• Patient and Family Education: Communicating diagnoses, procedures, medications, and lifestyle changes to enhance heart health.
• Consultation Services: Providing expert advice to other medical professionals on complex cardiac cases and management strategies.
• Quality Improvement Participation: Involvement in clinical reviews, performance enhancement initiatives, and ensuring compliance with VA policies and best practices.
• Teaching and Training: Educating residents, medical students, and staff as appropriate.

All responsibilities will be performed in alignment with VA regulations and the mission to deliver high-quality care to Veterans.

The standard work hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Some flexibility may be discussed during the interview process. There is no on-call requirement.

The salary range for this position is between $300,000 and $400,000, along with potential recruitment incentives and participation in the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP).
