Regional Pricing Manager

Position Purpose:
  • The Regional Pricing Manager plays a crucial role in managing the pricing administration team within a designated geography, ensuring accurate and strategic pricing input into Agility. This position is responsible for delivering comprehensive, value-added reporting to field leadership, enabling informed decision-making that aligns with the overarching strategic mission, while also driving margin improvement through analytical price and margin insights. Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Pricing, the Regional Pricing Manager is accountable for recruiting, training, and evaluating pricing administrators, while maintaining strong internal relationships to optimize gross margin performance across their designated region.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage a team of pricing administrators, ensuring precision in price inputs into the Agility system and alignment with organizational financial strategies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including maintaining a dotted line relationship with the Operational SVP, to ensure pricing strategies support overall business goals.
  • Conduct comprehensive data analyses to identify margin enhancement opportunities, presenting actionable insights to field operators for strategic decision-making.
  • Develop and deliver detailed, value-added reports that facilitate informed decision-making and support the strategic objectives of field operations.
  • Execute annual employee evaluations, providing constructive feedback and implementing development plans to optimize team performance and efficiency.
  • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and training of pricing administrators, ensuring new team members are effectively integrated and aligned with company protocols and objectives.
  • Maintain accountability for reviewing gross margin alerts and price overrides, identifying discrepancies or missed components, and initiating corrective actions to optimize net sales performance.
  • Utilize advanced Excel skills to create dynamic pricing models and simulations that forecast trends and support proactive margin management.
Direct Manager Direct Reports:
  • The Regional Pricing Manager at the Company reports directly to the Senior Director of Pricing. This position holds a dotted line relationship with the Operational Senior Vice President (SVP), emphasizing strategic alignment and collaboration. As the primary leader of the regional pricing function, the Regional Pricing Manager directly supervises a team of Pricing Administrators, ensuring effective implementation of pricing strategies and adherence to corporate protocols. This role involves oversight of the team's professional development, including recruitment, training, and performance evaluation, to drive operational excellence and margin enhancement within the assigned geography.
Travel Requirements:
  • The Regional Pricing Manager position requires travel 20-30% of the time, specifically at least 2-3 days every month, to ensure effective management and alignment of pricing strategies within the designated geography. Regional Pricing Managers are encouraged to meet with field leadership team in the field at least once a quarter, but also meet with a branch manager in the field at least once a month. These are required to be value-add meetings.
Physical Requirements:
  • The position of Regional Pricing Manager involves standard office-based physical requirements essential for the effective execution of job responsibilities. This includes the ability to frequently sit, stand, and walk throughout the office environment, as well as the capability to use a computer for extended periods, which involves repetitive motion tasks such as typing and using a mouse. The role requires sufficient visual acuity to read printed and digital materials and the ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written forms. Occasional travel within the designated geographical area necessitates the ability to operate a motor vehicle and navigate various client locations. Working Conditions:
  • The Regional Pricing Manager operates within a hybrid work environment, with flexibility to work from a home office or an office located in a branch within their specific region. The role is characterized by a fast-paced and deadline-driven atmosphere, requiring the ability to efficiently manage multiple tasks and priorities. Given the dynamic nature of the pricing administration function, the position demands a strategic mindset and attention to detail. The Regional Pricing Manager is expected to maintain high standards of accuracy and consistency, while effectively adapting to evolving business needs to enhance organizational goals and objectives.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Minimum Qualifications for Regional Pricing Manager
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year accredited college or university.
  • MBA highly preferred.
Work Experience:
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in a pricing or administrative-related role.
  • Previous experience in the building products industry preferred.
Technical Proficiencies:
  • Demonstrated proficiency in analytical tools with a preference toward Power Bi.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including but not limited to vlookup, complex formulas, graphs, and shortcut keys for data analysis and reporting.
  • Proficiency in other Microsoft Office applications, including Word and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with Agility software is advantageous but not mandatory.
Skills and Competencies:
  • Demonstrated advanced-level skills in Microsoft Excel, including data manipulation and analysis.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to interpret and act on gross margin alerts and price overrides to enhance profitability.
  • Experience in managing pricing administration and ensuring accurate data entry into specialized software systems.
  • Capability to create and deliver value-added reporting to facilitate informed decision-making for field operators.
  • Proven ability to conduct employee evaluations and manage recruitment and training of new pricing administrators when necessary.
  • Adept at aligning reporting and operational activities with the strategic goals of field operators.
Additional Requirements:
  • Capable of working from a home office or designated branch location within the region.
  • Travel 20-30% of the time, specifically at least 2-3 days every month, to ensure effective management and alignment of pricing strategies within the designated geography. Regional Pricing Managers are encouraged to meet with field leadership team in the field at least once a quarter, but also meet with a branch manager in the field at least once a month. These are required to be value-add meetings.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to maintain effective internal relationships, reporting to a Senior Director of Margin Enhancement and having a dotted line to an Operational SVP.
Commitment to Excellence:
  • Accountable for the financial integrity of gross margin percentages of net sales, through team oversight and strategic initiatives to capture missing components for margin improvement.
  • Prepared to spend extended periods working at a computer screen in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • In addition to the essential requirements and experiences listed, candidates with the following qualifications will be considered highly desirable for the role of Regional Pricing Manager. These qualifications emphasize analytical expertise, strategic thinking, and leadership capabilities:
  • Strategic Pricing Expertise - Demonstrated experience in strategic pricing and revenue management, with an ability to effectively influence pricing strategies to optimize profitability.
  • Advanced Analytical Skills - Proven record of utilizing data-driven analysis to identify pricing opportunities and to inform decision-making processes. Familiarity with advanced analytics tools, such as Power BI, is advantageous.
  • Leadership and Team Development - Experience in leading and mentoring teams, with a focus on cultivating high-performance environments that encourage innovation and continuous improvement. Ability to effectively interact and influence others including senior leadership.
  • Project Management Proficiency - Strong project management skills, with the capability to manage multiple pricing initiatives simultaneously while delivering on time and within scope.
  • Industry Experience - Prior experience in the building products industry or similar sectors, which include distribution or manufacturing environments, would be beneficial.
  • Advanced Communication Skills - Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to present complex information clearly and effectively at all organizational levels.
  • Change Management Acumen - Experience in driving change and effectively managing the implementation of new pricing processes or systems to enhance operational efficiencies.
  • MBA Degree - Possession of an MBA or equivalent advanced degree that provides a deeper understanding of business operations and strategic management.
  • Cultural Adaptability - Ability to work effectively within diverse cultural contexts and to leverage multicultural insights to enhance team performance and regional pricing strategies

Minimum Education:
  • A four-year college degree is mandatory.
Preferred Education:
  • A four-year college degree is required, with an MBA strongly preferred to enhance strategic decision-making and leadership skills in line with the role's responsibilities.
Minimum Years Of Work Experience:
  • Required Work A minimum of 3 years of experience in a pricing or administrative role, ideally within the building products industry, is required for consideration.

  • Strategic Thinking - Capable of aligning pricing practices and reporting with the broader strategic mission of field operations. Proactively identifies and implements strategies to optimize gross margin and address missing components.
  • Business Acumen - Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of market dynamics in the building products industry. In-depth understanding of income statements, contributing to informed decision-making in sales reporting, financial analysis, and pricing initiatives. Applies this knowledge to make informed pricing decisions that drive financial performance and competitive advantage.
  • Organizational Skills - Maintains a structured approach to managing tasks, deadlines, and resources. Ensures pricing information is accurately entered into the system and aligns with organizational processes and financial objectives.
  • Collaboration and Relationship Building - Fosters strong internal relationships with operational leaders and cross-functional teams. Collaborates effectively to review gross margin alerts and collaboratively develop strategies that improve overall margin performance.
