This Medical Center is part of the VA Capitol Health Care Network (VISN 5) and provides a wide array of services, including internal medicine, ambulatory surgery, audiology and speech pathology, dental care, nursing home services, nutrition, podiatry, prosthetics, women’s health, mental health, and rehabilitation medicine. As a Cardiologist, you will engage in both inpatient and outpatient consultations, interpreting diagnostic tests such as treadmill tests, nuclear scans, echocardiograms, Zio patches, and Holter monitors. You will collaborate with a team to address the treatment needs of our patients and participate in quality assurance initiatives and chart evaluations.

• Provide expert support in Non-Invasive Cardiology and patient care functions.

• Deliver comprehensive cardiac services, including echocardiography, stress echocardiograms, transesophageal echocardiograms (TEE), and diagnostic cardiac catheterizations.

• Consult with and treat Veterans while conducting stress tests (nuclear, chemical, and routine treadmill) and interpreting echocardiograms, Holter monitors, and EKGs.

• Educate and counsel Veterans and their families on preventive care, medical conditions, and the use of prescribed treatments and medications.

• Establish professional relationships with clinical service providers within the medical center, Outpatient Clinics (OPCs), and Community-Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs), offering telephone and curbside consultations as necessary and screening consults for appropriateness before scheduling.

• Oversee all aspects of cardiac medical care provided to patients under your supervision.

• Participate in Cardiology and general medical staff meetings, committee assignments, compliance activities, and other organized medical staff functions.

• Provide both inpatient and outpatient care.

• Support academic affiliations relevant to Cardiology.

• Engage in teaching for residents and medical students.

• Be available for on-call duties and work weekends and irregular hours as needed.

• While research is not mandatory, it is encouraged by the Veterans Affairs and supported as feasible, allowing opportunities for study design, data collection, analysis, publication, and other research activities.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.
