Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical/Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required License: Current RN license Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Description: The facility consists of 457 licensed beds. It is a Trauma Level III facility. This is a teaching hospital with designations for Chest Pain and Stroke. The average daily census is 21 patients in the department. Patient types include chest pain, rule-out stroke, syncope, dizziness, and respiratory illnesses. Ratios are RN 1:4-5 and CNA 1:7 days; 1:10 nights. Skills required include general Med/Tele skillset. Experience with stroke management, cardiac rhythm interpretation, and trach care is needed. PIV starts, chest tube management, and NGT placement must be within the skill set. Management of drains and tubes, including foley insertion and management, is required. Medication management for cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, and IV fluids is essential. Support within the department includes supervisors and charge RNs. Access to respiratory therapists and hospitalists is available 24/7. Phlebotomy is a combined effort between RNs and the IV team. The facility uses an EMR system and has specific equipment for IV and medication dispensing. Travel nurses may be required to float to other nursing units. Floating will occur based on patient care needs and staffing demands. Client culture promotes a great team environment and camaraderie. Weekend rotation and holiday scheduling must be anticipated, with travelers expected to work 75% of holidays. Request time off may be approved, but contracted hours must be met. Shift times will vary based on department needs.
