Radiation Therapist II, 40 hours

Peabody, MA • Lahey Medical Center Peabody • Full-time • DayWhen you join the growing BILH team, you're not just taking a job, you’re making a difference in people’s lives.The Radiation Therapist, under the supervision of the Chief Therapist in collaboration with the Manager and Director of Cancer Services, performs according to the policies, philosophy and objectives of the Radiation Oncology Department and the hospital. Works cooperatively with the department and other services to create a system of quality health care.Job Description:Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to:1) Applies principles of basic radiation physics interactions and protection.2) Delivers accurately the prescribed planned course of radiation therapy treatment.3) Checks prescription, diagnosis, chart and patient identification.4) Administers prescribed or advised by a physician, ointments, drops or lotions specific to the Radiation Therapy.5) Explains procedures to patients and means of communication during treatment.6) Prepares room and equipment for patient according to patient set up.7) Maintains and logs daily treatments in the patient’s records paper chart and ARIA.8) Possesses knowledge of scheduling and billing procedures proficient in ARIA and navigating EPIC.9) Utilizes QA programs to encompass all aspects of treatment delivery.10) Understands the function of equipment, accessories and treatment methods including SRS, SBRT, Brachytherapy, Exac Trac, Surface Guided Imaging,11) IMRT/IGRT and CT Simulator experience required.12) Experience with computer systems required, including web based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access.13) Maintains and provides annual documentation of required CEC credits for licensure.14) Participates in specialty areas such as, but not limited to, Clinical Instruction of Radiation Therapy Technology Students, EBRT, and Stereotactic Radiosurgery. Participates in Departmental and Therapist Staff meetings and demonstrates ability to represent Therapists and provide technical support when called upon.15) Attends SBRT, New Patient and SRS Conference.16) Self manages during equipment failures and facilitates machine down procedures in a professional and safe manner. Documents treatment delivery information and records treatment variances using the appropriate incident reporting tool.17) Self coordinates daily activities of schedule to ensure quality treatment delivery and maximum utilization of equipment and personnel. Instructs new therapists in the following areas: treatment protocols, quality assurance and improvement policies and practices. Works with Physician and Therapist staff to triage emergent cases and negotiate scheduling of patients.18) Incorporates Lahey Clinics Guiding Principles, Mission Statement and Goals into daily activities.19) Complies with all Lahey Clinic Policies20) Complies with behavioral expectations of the department and Lahey Clinic.21) Maintains courteous and effective interactions with colleagues and patients.22) Demonstrates an understanding of the job description, performance expectations, and competency assessment.23) Demonstrates a commitment toward meeting and exceeding the needs of our customers and consistently adheres to customer service standards.24) Participates in departmental and/or interdepartmental quality improvement activities.25) Participates in and successfully completes Mandatory Education and Annual Competencies.26) Performs all other duties as needed or directed to meet the needs of the department.Competencies:1. Resolves service issues in the assigned unit(s) in a timely and respectful mannerMinimum Qualifications:Education: Must be a graduate of an accredited Radiation Therapy Program.Licensure, Certification, Registration: Must be registered by the ARRT and hold a valid MA License.Skills, Knowledge & Abilities: In the absence of any of these skills, demonstrates the ability to be thoroughly trained to meet organizational standards.Experience: Minimum 5 years experience required.Pay Range:$39.90 – $59.29The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.
