Tenure-Track Professor of Pre-1800 French and Francophone Studies

The Department of Romance Languages and Literatures seeks a tenure‑track professor of French and Francophone literatures and cultures specializing in any period prior to the nineteenth century, from the Middle Ages to the aftermath of the French Revolution. We are looking for a scholar who envisions research within a capacious conception of the spaces, texts, and times involved in pre‑1800 French and Francophone studies. Responsibilities Teach four courses a year. Supervise undergraduate and graduate theses. Develop and contribute to the department’s academic programs. Qualifications Doctorate required by July1,2024. Fluency in French required. PhD from disciplines other than French Studies may be considered if research aligns with pre‑1800 French and Francophone studies. Strong commitment to teaching and ability to engage a diverse student body.
