As a Security Officer Access Control Screener in Portsmouth, VA , you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. Join Allied Universal in a dynamic government port location where you will monitor access points, verify credentials, and support security-related operations with professionalism and care. In this access control role, you will remain visible, conduct routine patrols, and provide outstanding customer service and communication. Guided by teamwork, integrity, and innovation, you will help create a welcoming environment while helping to deter incidents and support daily operations.

What You'll Do:

• Provide customer service to visitors, contractors, and employees while carrying out access control procedures, site-specific policies, and/or emergency response activities at a government location.
• Monitor entry and exit points, verify credentials and/or identification, and document visitor, vendor, and vehicle activity in accordance with post instructions.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, and report security-related concerns to the appropriate personnel.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of access points, gate areas, and perimeter locations to help support site rules and observe unusual activity.
• Communicate clearly with site contacts, law enforcement, and/or emergency responders as needed, and complete required logs, reports, and other post documentation.

Minimum Requirements:

• Possess a TSA issued TWIC.
• A guard card and/or license is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
