Cell Leader

Job Description Summary As a member of the site leadership team, the Steam Repairs Cell Leader is responsible for the end‑to‑end execution of Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost (SQDCP) and People goals for the Cell, while contributing to the overall site near‑and long‑term plans and delivery. This role requires strategic oversight of repair operations, managing both human and capital resources, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement through Lean methodologies. The Cell Leader serves as a technical and leadership mentor, ensuring alignment between shop‑floor execution and business unit objectives. Responsibilities Drive performance management by embedding safety and quality into all systems and behaviors. Meet or exceed customer commitments and internal KPIs by managing "wing‑to‑wing" operations (scheduling, material flow, cost delivery, training, and labor allocation) for rotor, valve, and CMU rotor and valve repairs. Develop and communicate a cell‑wide strategy, goals and objectives that align with broader business goals; support master production scheduling and contribute to resource/equipment planning via the Control Tower. Act as Lean change agent, using Lean methodologies to reduce waste, optimize inventory, and improve process maturity (standard work, visual management). Oversee budget delivery, including labor costs, consumable spending, and financial targets. Communicate and plan with a diverse group of experts (engineering, customers, project managers, manufacturing cell leaders, technical leaders, repairs PMs, People Leadership) to ensure seamless delivery of products or services. Provide technical authority on steam repair disciplines; use data analysis and technical expertise to solve operational challenges and inform leadership recommendations. Lead root‑cause analysis for technical and personnel issues, implementing sustainable data‑driven solutions. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a STEM or Business discipline, or a High School diploma/GED with 10+ years of relevant heavy industrial manufacturing experience. Minimum 5 years of professional experience in manufacturing operations, production management, or engineering roles. Demonstrated people‑leading experience (direct or indirect reports). Ability to manage complex projects, issue status reports, and communicate at customer, sales, and project levels. Knowledge of Steam Rotor assembly and steam rotor repair operations. Proficiency in analyzing complex data sets to drive business decisions. Lean or Six Sigma Green Belt (or equivalent quality certification). Strong knowledge of standard operating cost systems and production/inventory control. Excellent interpersonal, influence, and oral/written communication skills; ability to manage multiple, high‑priority tasks under tight deadlines.
