Role With PurposeAs a Guest Advocate (FT), you contribute to our mission by helping the shelter operate safely, cleanly, and with dignity—so guests can take steps toward stability and renewed hope. Key responsibilities include maintaining orderly shelter routines; supporting safety and security of the facility and resources; supervising and encouraging guest chores and shared standards; and completing accurate, timely documentation in HMIS, including data entry, audits, and report support while protecting confidentiality.Required qualifications/skills: - High School Diploma- Minimum 2 years’ direct experience working with vulnerable populations- HMIS or similar client data system experience preferred- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office; office technology), organized filing, and data-compliance focus- Ability to work afternoons/nights/weekends ; walk the facility and lift up to 25 lbs- Respect for Catholic Social Teachings and the mission of SVDPPay: $13.00–$15.00/hour (Full Time, onsite in Baton Rouge). Apply to make a difference through steady, compassionate service.A Typical ShiftYou’ll arrive for an afternoon, night, or weekend shift, review what changed since the prior handoff, and set a calm tone as guests come in and settle. Between periodic walk-throughs inside and outside the shelter, you’ll check that shared spaces stay orderly and that guests have what they need to follow routines respectfully. During quieter stretches, you’ll focus at a workstation on timely HMIS updates and quick record checks, then pivot back to the floor as needs arise.
