Job Description

General Functions :

This is a professional Corrections position that requires the following skills: good communication, conflict management and problem-solving, time management, initiative and accountability, professionalism, integrity and good judgment. The Senior Community Corrections Officer assists the Supervisor or designee with special projects and coordinates or facilitating training activities for other staff. May also perform administrative support functions such as quality assurance reviews, policy development and review, compliance audits, and training.


Representative Duties/Assignments :

Community Corrections

• Contact with offenders and/or inmates.
• Conducts interview sessions with specific emphasis on goal oriented and socially accepted behavior.
• Monitors, investigates, and/or enforces offender adherence to program requirements.
• Conducts drug testing on offenders and/or inmates.
• Attends and participates in court hearings.
• Analyzes documentation and makes recommendations regarding sentencing.
• Provides referral information (e.g. vocational, educational and social services).
• Facilitates training of other staff as directed by the Unit Supervisor.
• Prepares written documentation, correspondence or case documentation.
• Supervises a high risk and/or specialized caseload.
• Provides quality assurance audits and monitor compliance with policies, procedures and accreditation standards.
• Assists in the development and delivery of targeted programming for offenders/inmates.
• Communicates with criminal justice partners.
• Interview and assist offenders and/or inmates with re-entry and resources.
• Facilitate cognitive skills classes to offenders and/or inmates.
• Coordinates monthly and annual revisions of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for each unit and assists in the development of new division policies.
• Performs quality assurance and compliance reviews to ensure operational efficiency, to include written reports documenting the outcome of reviews and recommendations.
• Participates in policy review and development
• Completes special projects at the direction of the division Assistant Manager/Manager or designee.
• Provides regular feedback to supervisory staff of outcomes from quality assurance reviews.
• Monitors and logs all CCD grievances.
• Maintains, updates and verifies qualifications of the CCD referral list.
• May perform back up duties for the unit supervisors on a limited basis.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications :

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and two years of experience in a correctional facility, case management, public safety or prior experience as a Community Corrections Officer.

Must possess and maintain a valid State of Florida Driver's License.

Preferences :
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Criminal Justice, Sociology, Psychology or related field

Interpreting Court Orders/Police Reports

Leadership or Mentoring Individuals

Speaks a second language

Body Ornamentation (Tattoos and Branding)

Any tattoos and brands located above the collarbone are prohibited. The use of cosmetics, clothing, or any other method to conceal such markings is not permitted.

Employees are required to conceal any tattoos that are considered obscene or offensive. Examples of prohibited tattoos include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Content of a sexual nature.
• Sexually, racially, religiously, or ethnically offensive sentiments,
• Sentiments advocating violence or subversion,
• Expressing gang affiliations, or otherwise tending to incite violence or disruption in the workplace, or
• Other content, which if expressed by other means would violate Orange County policies.

Dental Ornamentation:


Employees will not use gold, silver, or other caps or veneers for the purpose of dental ornamentation unless deemed medically necessary and prescribed by a licensed dentist. Teeth, whether natural, capped, or veneer, will not be ornamented with designs, jewels or initials.


Employees will be prohibited from unnatural shaping teeth for non-medical reasons (e.g. fangs) or wearing removable dental ornamentation (e.g. grills).


Gauging:


Employees are not permitted to wear any type of gauge while on duty or while performing official Department business. Visible openings, for example the earlobe caused by stretching/wearing a gauge must be completely concealed at all times.
